if you look at Scotland’s power generation facilities (Power stations in Scotland) you will see that usually we have Torness and Hunterston B for nuke and Longannet and Cockenzie for coal power. However since Hunterston B (along with Hinkley B) has been shut down due to the possibility of boiler tube failure (HSE) and the coal conveyor at Longannet has collapsed and will take until mid February to be repaired while they hope they will get a licence to run it on gas in the mean time it not a good situation to be in. Another factor to consider is that the black start facility for Scotland is Cruachan hydro plant which recently had serious problems with it’s generators after they were reconditioned.
All i can say is that i hope it doesn’t snow!!!

I have been playing with celtx recently and have just finished the first script using it. Called “Three Men (and a Woman) in a Room” Now all I have to do is film it. Any one interested in helping, let me know. Main problem is the requirement for 3 actors and an actress and as all my friends are engineers I don’t know any.

Many aeons ago in the early 90’s when AOL and Copuserve battled for control of the internet I was faced with finding a new screen name that didn’t have numbers in. I found “binraker” was not accounted for and no one in their right mind was likely to use it. so from then on I have used it as my on-line alias. Recently I posted an article on the Elektor forum about their milling machine kit and they put one my posts in the letters section of the magazine under the name Binraker. Who would have thought that the ridiculous name I chose to get a unique AOL address would end up in a well respected publication? It just makes me chuckle!

Just after getting back from WH Smith with the latest copy of Elektor (which has a letter/post from me about the unbelievable specs of their milling machine kit in it this month, hehe!) I was handed a spanner and asked to fix a leaking pipe in one of the bathrooms. after tightening the appropriate nut it was decided to reseat the taps in new whiteing since the old stuff had never set and the nylon back nuts were too squooshey and so never actually do their job. This then resulted in several hours work, 2 trips to home base to get bits and me getting wet 3 times. After taking the taps off it was decided to fit new ceramic inserts into them then after finishing one bathroom it was thought best to do the taps in the other one since i was already damp and had all the appropriate tools. So much for a relaxing lunch flipping through the pages of my shiny new mag.
