Another little side line….

After wondering what all the fuss about Arduino was I thought I’d buy one. And of course the first thing i did after the flashing LED was use one of the PWM examples to drive the output transistor of my intelligent vibrator on breadboard. the result is the this video.

(brings new meaning to “Arduino Inside”)

What’s slightly more important is it took about 20 seconds to do this little example and flash it to the uC with the built in bootloader. I may have to port everything to one of these things since it is so damn easy to use. However it does give you that hollow feeling that maybe the code you are implementing isn’t all that streamlined and it was all a little too easy. A bit like going to the supermarket and not supporting your local corner shop.

Came across this site the other day, and I applaud your efforts. By the way, it was Slashdong that pointed me here, if you’re interested.

I’ve got a an idea for something related which could leverage your vibrator, but would require a control interface to it, preferably wireless, and most preferably, Bluetooth or Zigbee. The idea I have in mind would use your intelligent vibrator as a reward for good behavior. Currently determining what I would use for bad behavior…

I have been thinking about this for a few days. Are you meaning that the person with the remote control simply decides when the “user” gets to go over the edge that the electronics should hopefully be dangling them over?

Sorry, haven’t check back in a long while. There are a lot of variations on the “idea”, but the first thing that popped to mind was a PC muscle trainer. The device would put the user on a schedule, having to squeeze the PC muscle regularly. The stronger the squeeze, the more intense the vibration… The next part is a bit insidious, but the device could incorporate some kind of electrical shock for bad behavior. There are numerous devices being sold online to use in BDSM play, but none are “intelligent”. In the scenario above, the user might get a shock if they didn’t squeeze on schedule or hard enough. Shock intensity could be user-controlled and vary from mild to really intense.

If you combine this with some kind of interface, you could develop all kinds of fun “peripherals”. Imagine a fellatio training device with sensors to detect insertion and depth, for example.

This definitely takes the device into another realm as a BDSM toy, but these relatively simple mods would increases its appeal to a broader group.
